Central Committee
The Central Committee is the governing body of the Pickaway County Republican Party, serving much like a board of directors for the organization. Its members are elected by Republican voters within their precincts during the primary election.
At the organizational meeting following each primary election, the elected members of the Central Committee elect the Party's officers, who may be any eligible Republican as provided by the party bylaws.
Following the election of the Party Chairman, the Chairman may appoint up to 10 At-Large members to strengthen the committee with additional experience, expertise, and community representation. The Chairman may also appoint up to two additional At-Large members for Central Committee members who move from the precinct they were elected to represent but remain eligible to serve under the party bylaws.
At-Large appointments expire at the end of the Chairman's term and do not carry over to the next administration unless they are reappointed following the Party's reorganization. While At-Large members enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as other Central Committee members, including voting on internal party business, they are not eligible to vote when the Central Committee fills vacancies in public office.
The Central Committee establishes the direction of the local Republican Party, adopts and oversees party policies, fills certain vacancies in public office as provided by Ohio law, recruits and supports Republican candidates, engages volunteers, and works to advance Republican principles throughout Pickaway County.
Interesting Facts:
60% of the current Central Committee has been elected since 2024, reflecting significant growth and new leadership within the Party.
Only 25% of elected Central Committee members currently hold public office. The Committee is primarily made up of Republican volunteers, community leaders, and grassroots activists dedicated to strengthening the Party.
